CHALLENGE /

Two main challenges guided the design process for this villa in Erbil: managing the required program of the building and its landscape within the tight boundaries of the site and reflecting the interaction between formal and family spaces.

 

CONCEPT /

The garden on the ground floor connects with the swimming pool in the basement through stepped seating and landscaped areas, generating usable vertical spaces thus maximizing the use of the land. Two blocks housing the formal and family living spaces are interconnected by a louvered mesh which acts as a dynamic canvas that changes according to the use of the spaces behind it.
