This private residence is located in the mountainous landscape of Baakline, set within a plot surrounded by pine and fruit-bearing trees. The design responds to both the client’s affinity for cottage-style living and the region’s strict architectural regulations, requiring adherence to traditional Lebanese façade and roof typologies while delivering a contemporary spatial experience.
The 700 m² villa is positioned within a 1,520 m² landscaped setting, with the layout organized around a central double-height entrance that extends into the main reception areas. From this core, the plan branches into distinct zones including the master suite wing, open kitchen and service areas, and upper-level spaces. Large glazed openings, combined with sliding wooden louvered screens, allow the reception areas to fully open onto the garden, reinforcing the connection with the surrounding landscape and valley views.
The upper levels are distributed across two tiers, accommodating guest suites, a studio and office space, and an elevated terrace overlooking the site. A defining architectural feature is the pitched roof, which extends down toward the western edge of the plot, creating shaded outdoor areas and integrating the building into its terrain. Circulation is expressed externally through staircases that follow the roofline, linking the garden to upper terraces and to a secluded “tree house” volume positioned above the first floor. The roof is carefully punctured to preserve the single existing pine tree on the plot, reinforcing the project’s commitment to its natural context while giving the residence a distinctive and memorable identity.
