This educational facility, located in Asfan north of Jeddah, was developed as part of King Abdulaziz University. The project was driven by the need to deliver a fully operational campus within a compressed timeline, requiring a design approach that prioritizes efficiency, clarity, and constructability while maintaining a contemporary architectural expression.
The campus is organized around a 4,000 m² central indoor multipurpose hall that acts as the primary spatial and social core. Four main buildings are arranged around this hub, including a 3,900 m² administrative block housing reception, offices, a library, and a prayer hall. The academic components consist of two classroom buildings of similar scale and a 5,000 m² laboratory building, which also integrates student amenities such as a restaurant and recreation spaces at ground level.
The architectural language is defined by simple, geometric forms and the use of conventional, readily available construction materials—ensuring speed of delivery and cost efficiency. The massing strategy is driven by the internal configuration of lecture spaces, generating inverted volumetric shifts as the buildings rise. This creates a dynamic composition of edges and facets that shape circulation paths and open spaces across the campus. Color is applied strategically to differentiate program elements, reinforcing wayfinding and enhancing the overall identity of the development.
