CHALLENGE /

The architectonics had to carefully respect the region’s unique and special regulations concerning façade and roof treatments, that should conform with the traditional Lebanese typology. Elements of traditional heritage were thoroughly revisited, from the pointed arch to the ever appealing mandaloon window. These are also serenely integrated in patterns that characterize the louvers used as sun-breakers and privacy screens, thus forming a very unique signature instance throughout the project.

CONCEPT /

The 'Village' is a gated community which lies on a beautiful hill in Baakline, in the heart of Lebanon’s mountainous Shouf area, comprising of a country club and 15 residential blocks of 5 different typologies - covering studios of 60 m², apartments ranging from 200 to 400 m², and private villas of up to 1,800 m². It is properly integrated in its context; the maximum allowable footprint exploitation was not utilized throughout the design so as to maintain large portions of the natural pine forest and increase the spaces between the different buildings.

The clients wish to manage the country club, designed to cater for the whole of Baakline and its surrounding areas, providing them with recreational and sports facilities, child care amenities, spa areas, a theater and projection area, a restaurant, and a wedding hall. Two rentable bungalows also complement the main swimming pool section, along with a secluded tennis court.
