This private residence in Erbil is developed within a constrained site, requiring a careful orchestration of program, landscape, and spatial hierarchy. The design addresses both the limited footprint and the need to clearly articulate the relationship between formal and family living domains within a cohesive architectural framework.
The villa is conceived as a composition of distinct yet interconnected volumes, allowing each function to maintain its identity while contributing to an integrated whole. The layout maximizes the usability of the site by extending the landscape vertically, creating layered outdoor spaces that enhance both functionality and spatial experience.
A key feature of the project is the stepped transition between the ground-level garden and the basement swimming pool, forming a sequence of terraces and seating areas that activate the vertical dimension of the site. Two primary blocks—dedicated respectively to formal and family spaces—are linked by a louvered mesh element that acts as both a visual filter and a dynamic façade. This intermediate layer responds to the activities behind it, creating a shifting interplay of light, privacy, and transparency throughout the day.
